A New Year Begins
Posted by Dave Hall
Well Good Morning, and welcome to my first "Notes from the President", if you will. My intent each week will be to give y'all my view of where we are and what we're doing when it comes to service...and service is what I think it's all about.
If you go back to our foundation as an organization it clearly lays-out what we have as a focus...Lifted right from the Rotary International folks:
"The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service."
I'd just like to ask that each of you read over these a couple of times, and then think about them a bit over the next few weeks and think what they mean to you. Each week over the coming month or so, I'm going to address these and how I see them in the context of our group.
