Our club is governed by bylaws, and your board voted on an update to those bylaws at our last meeting. We will vote on these as a club on Feb. 7. Please review the draft, along with a summary of the changes (linked and also available on the club website). Thanks to Stu McLennan for taking the lead on this revision, and to DG Rich Kaye for the synopsis.
Most of the changes involve Rotary International's Council on Legislation. These changes are in the areas of:
- club report transparency
- mandatory officers as board members
- minimum qualification for president-nominees
- exemption of former members from a second admission fee
- revising attendance provisions to include service requirements and updating termination for non-attendance to match
- changes to the provisions for excused absences, including amending the provision for RI officers' excused absences to extend to spouses and changing calculation of attendance to reflect those changes
- "satellite" clubs
- allowing people who have not worked or interrupted their work to be active members, amend the provisions for termination of membership
- changing the provisions for transferring and former Rotarians
- allowing honorary members to wear the RI emblem
Changes we made as a club included:
- Adding youth service to the list of directors and including that position on the board
- Codifying the Patsy Derr award for Sustained Service
