Sunday is Flag Day. It commemorates the official adoption of the Stars and Stripes in 1777 by the Continental Congress.

It still waves over the land of the free and the home of the brave. It is a very comforting and very inspiring symbol. Our national trademark is known by many names: Old Glory; the Red, White and Blue; Grand Old Flag; the Star-Spangled Banner; the Stars and Stripes. The flag is the embodiment of history. It represents the experiences made by men and women, the experiences of those who do and live under the flag. We honor our flag and the men and women whose lives have protected it.
