When disaster strikes, Rotary answers the call—and that’s exactly what the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights did in response to the recent flooding in the Texas Hill Country. It began with a message from Debbie, a longtime friend of Rotarian Leah McGee and a current resident of Kerrville. Debbie shared a heartfelt plea and a wishlist of supplies desperately needed to support the flood recovery effort. Leah, a former Kerrville resident herself, knew action had to be taken.

She quickly coordinated with Club President Dan Ady and Service Project Chair Bob Crouch to make this a club-wide service initiative. Club members jumped in without hesitation—purchasing, collecting, sorting, and delivering critical supplies such as chainsaws, shovels, hygiene items, first aid kits, and more. Contributions came not only from Rotarians but also from generous members of the Killeen community.

In a powerful show of support, American Motor Products in Round Rock donated high-value equipment including a 12K generator, water pump, inverter, and pressure washer.

Leah and her family loaded their van and trailer and made the trip to Kerrville on July 15th, personally delivering the items and meeting with Debbie and another friend, Dennis, to distribute them directly to those in need.

In total, Killeen Heights Rotarians contributed over 30 hours of service and thousands of dollars in supplies. Their swift and compassionate response is a testament to what it means to be People of Action.
