Our Members Are Our Most Valuable Asset

This Friday while you are at the meeting, I would like for you to look to your left – then to your right – and think to yourself who is missing. Then, you may ask yourself, Why?. Each week I learn of someone going into the hospital, a member who suffered the loss of a loved one, or a Rotarian who is unable to attend due to health or other personal reasons.
It always breaks my heart when I learn these things late because I would have wanted to speak with them, send a card, or at least drop an email to let them know we all care.

We are a large club (by Rotary International standards) â€" which is great! At our size, we can participate in a lot of things that a smaller club may not have the fortune of doing. However, I do not want our size to make us anonymous. We all have that group of folks that we count on seeing every Friday &ndash call them your "battle buddies" if you will.
If someone is missing, let's make the effort to call or send a note that they are missed and will enjoy seeing them at the next meeting or event. If you learn that their absence is due to illness, etc., let's share that information (if they consent!) so that we can assist them, pray for them, or visit them. Don't assume that "everyone knows" because there are times we are just unaware of these circumstances. As I told you when we started this year off, fellowship and fun are the highest priorities for the Killeen Heights Rotary Club. Our members (YOU!) are the most valuable asset of our club.
Have a fruitful week.Yours in Rotary,
Steve Walden
