Rotary Club of Matamoros Profesional, District 4130, Mexico
This weekend (24-25 August), Jose Segarra, Michael Keefe, and Jim Bondi traveled to Brownsville, TX and teamed up with our partner club, Rotary Club of Matamoros Profesional. It was an amazing visit! With everyone's support, it was truly a wonderful example of "Peace Through Service" and one that we will never forget.
The next morning (Sunday morning), the current Club President Enedelia Quezada and her husband (Donald) hosted a delicious breakfast. Immediately following breakfast, we departed for Matamoros, Mexico with nearly 15 of it's club members (including Immediate Past President Rebeca Porras Diaz and her board members) to visit our Clean Water Supply Project that was recently completed to support 50 families in a small community outside of Matamoros. This community visit truly touched our hearts, seeing the gratitude of so many families in a community that lacked the basic essentials of water and electricity. Seeing the water being received by the families was especially memorable and most important the smiles on the faces of the families and children. It put a whole new meaning and face to the work being done by Rotary!
The Rotary Club of Matamoros Profesional is nearly 11 years old with 31 members - all females and all enthusiastic about giving back to their community. This is a high energy club that's not afraid of doing the heavy lifting. We are planning on meeting at the Bi-District Conference on Saturday - Sunday (14-15 Sep), San Antonio to continue our discussion of future endeavors. Hope you can join us in meeting this wonderful club.
Jose, Michael and Jim will be preparing a club presentation program to further tell their story of this most memorable experience. We also need to thank our partner clubs in District 5870 to include; Rotary Clubs of Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Salado, and Georgetown-Sun City.
