This past Saturday, members of the Rotary Club of Killeen-Heights rolled up their sleeves, gathered Bob’s tools, and worked together on a project that will make a lasting difference in the community: building Little Free Libraries!
Working side by side, Rotarians transformed lumber, screws, and teamwork into opportunities for neighbors of all ages to discover new books, explore new ideas, and develop a lifelong love of reading.
Little Free Libraries follow a simple but powerful philosophy: “Take a Book, Share a Book.” These neighborhood book exchanges make reading materials more accessible while encouraging people to share stories, connect with neighbors, and discover the joy of reading.
The project was about more than building book-sharing boxes. It was an opportunity for fellowship, collaboration, and putting Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self into action. Members shared laughs, contributed their talents, and worked toward a common goal of supporting literacy and strengthening the community.
Once installed throughout the area, these Little Free Libraries will provide welcoming places for readers to find their next favorite book and pass along stories for others to enjoy.
A big thank-you to everyone who contributed their time, tools, and talents to make this project possible!
Killeen-Heights Rotarians are building more than libraries — they’re building connections, inspiring curiosity, and opening doors to new adventures, one book at a time.
That’s what being People of Action is all about!
