Rotary Mourns Esther Bray

Esther, age 87, died Feb. 27, 2011, in at Scott & White hospital in Temple. A memorial service will be held for her at 1 PM Saturday, March 12, at Harker Heights United Methodist Church.
She was born on April 17, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio, spent her high school years in Keene, N.H., and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Esther was a retired elementary school teacher for the Killeen Independent School District, and was an active member of the Killeen Heights Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church of Killeen, Modern Study Club and Killeen Schools Retirees Association. She also was a member of the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Gertrude Linder; her devoted husband, Daniel James Bray (January 2006); and her eldest daughter, Ellen Jane Bray (July 1989).
Survivors include a daughter, Betsy MacPherson (Roger) of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; and one granddaughter, Brenna MacPherson of San Antonio.
One of Esther's great interests was the new Scott & White Children's Hospital. Those wishing to give a memorial in her name can do so through the Scott & White Healthcare Foundation: 2401 S. 31st St., Temple, TX. Please indicate 'For Children's Hospital in Memory of Esther Bray' in the memo.
