Members of the Rotary Club of Killeen Heights visited East Ward Elementary School on May 22nd.  A red carpet reception awaited members as faculty and students lined both sides of the hallway to welcome the group.

Students entertained the members with musical selections from "Hair Spray" and "High School Musical."  A check for $5,000 was presented to Communities in Schools Executive Director, Mary E. Barr.  Barr explained the funds would be used for the "Angel Fund" which helps assist with payment for food, electric bills, etc.

Barr also explained the Backpack Buddies program which helps CIS staff identify students in need and distributes food to them and their families using backpacks.
